Principles of Animation - Slow In and Slow Out

In your own words, what do you think is the principle of animation identified?
Where does it occur (outside of the examples provided in the videos)?

  1. Slow in and slow out gives a more smooth speed and precise moment in between frames. an example of this is a ball falling down fast but as it bounces becomes slower

  3. This also motion build up based on acceleration starting at 0 - 100 - 0.
    There is always a build up with slow in - slow out.

    A car driving from point A to point B with it's climax speed being 50kph.

  4. The presence of acceleration and deceleration at the beginning and ending of an action to display a sense of realistic/ fluid movement based on the action. Eg. An Airplane accelerating and decelerating during takeoff and landing.

  6. Slow in Slow Out means that the character's movements begins slowly building up to a required level and then finishes slowly. For example a race the character goes out of the blocks slowly and then gradually beginning to accelerate and then decelerates towards the finish line.

  7. Slow in slow out means that the object moving from point A to B will transition smoothly by building up slow to fast back to slow. You can achieve this by adding more images closer to the beginning and ending of the movement. Example: waving a hand, you add images closer to the ending and beginning key frames.
